The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is.
– Winston Churchill, journalist, soldier, and British prime minister.
A Tribute to Blair Watson
Blair Watson, military critic, author and journalist, former pilot, and dear friend of many passed away in October 2014. He was only 50 and was looking forward to some exciting new projects.
As a tribute to his years of effort, his essay: Psychology of Mormonism and his eBook: The Latter-Day Saint Swindle: The Mormon Church’s $200-Billion Scam, are being shared for free. Click to open the eBook as a PDF.
Blair was a frequent contributor to the ExMormon and Post-Mormon chat boards. He volunteered countless hours over the years to provide encouragement and informed advice to thousands. Being required to attend church from the age of five, he understood the struggle to leave the faith while maintaining family connections. He wrote candidly about the fear, shame, and guilt associated with Mormonism. As he and his family experienced, the financial costs are also significant.
As he researched the historical realities and financial facts of Mormonism, Blair felt his trust had been abused by the church. His time and energy were also depleted on a difficult mission to Peru. He struggled to break free (and happily did eventually) and felt compelled to help others.
Latter-day Saint Swindle free eBook
Blair spent nearly three years researching and writing the Latter-day Saint Swindle: The Mormon Church’s $200-Billion Scam. Although a professional work of non-fiction, he would often burst into laughter at the ridiculousness of the facts that he uncovered. He hoped that along with being informed, readers would be equally entertained.
Blair uncovered compelling evidence of systematic activity by the church’s leadership to deceive and control the common members. Like those of other religions, Blair saw that they are good people. It was for them, including his niece and nephews, that this probing analysis was written.
He registered an ISBN copyright for this book and was selling the ebook. Now that he has passed, his work is being shared here for free to honour his memory. He was a wonderful person who truly wanted to see people be happy and fulfilled. Please pass it on. If you share or quote this book, do him the honour of giving him a writer’s credit.
Psychology of Mormonism
He also poured many hours into sharing and refining his thoughts on the affects of Mormonism. He created a webpage titled Psychology of Mormonism, which is included here in its entirety.
Blair, you will be missed always by so many people who you touched in your short life. May your words continue to touch many more.
The previous Tribute website, which was online from late 2014 to 2018, was viewed by more than 140,000 people from around the world. The domain name expired briefly while this site creator was busy moving homes.
To the individual or organization that snapped up that URL, shame on you. Clearly, your intention was to try to keep people in the dark. Fortunately, we still live in a free society where people have the right to be informed. If you hack this site, I will reload it. If you buy this URL someday, I will just use another.
While other churches have apologized for some of the harm they have caused, the LDS/Mormon church tries desperately to hide the truth. Ask a young missionary about Joseph Smith and they are clueless (or feign ignorance) about their own church’s founder – the world’s most famous polygamist and a man who married a 14-year-old girl. That was just the start.
Denying history merely denies the suffering of countless people.
